James David Hoke was born in Durham North Carolina in 1950 to Frances and Albert Hoke.  He grew up there in NC and went to Duke University for his undergraduate degree.  He married Toria in 1973 and they had 2 children (Matthew and Timon).  David worked in radio for a time before becoming a Southern Baptist pastor.  David attended Trinity Theological Seminary for both his masters degree and PhD.  David and his family moved to NJ in 1988 where he pastored Emmanuel Baptist Church / New Horizons Community Church in Voorhees NJ.  David also served as the chaplain for the Philadelphia Eagles for 12 years before his physical challenges made that impossible.  David always had a desire to bless other pastors by providing full text sermons for use in their churches.  The last 10 years of his life, David struggled physically and was finally taken home to be with the Lord on February 25, 2021 at the age of 70.  My hope is that this site will continue to bless pastors.
